What is Artefar Studio, and how does it differ from commercial wall art shops?
Artefar is an independent art and design studio founded in Istanbul by artist and industrial designer Onur Cem Aksakal. His background spans oil painting, wood carving, leatherwork, analogue photography and graphic design, and it shapes how we choose colour, texture, materials and composition. We treat wall art as part of a room’s architecture — the way light, texture and quiet occupy a space — taking inspiration from the Italian idea of “dolce far niente”. Rather than listing everything, we select each work for a collection.
