Artefar was founded in Istanbul by artist and industrial designer Onur Cem Aksakal, with the ambition to bring his experience across different disciplines into one studio. From oil painting, wood carving and leatherwork to music, analogue photography, video and graphic design, this background shapes our approach to colour, texture, materials and composition.

Our name takes inspiration from the Italian expression “dolce far niente”: the sweetness of doing nothing. To us, it means taking a moment in everyday life to notice an artwork, a texture or the way light transforms a room.
Today, we bring that perspective to our wall art collections. We bring together our own work, reproductions of classic paintings and images thoughtfully selected from a range of sources. We assess each image for print, refining colour and detail where needed, and consider the artwork alongside its material and frame.
With five years of international sales experience, we closely oversee every piece from print preparation to packaging. Each piece is made to order and shipped to customers around the world. Whatever the format, our attention to materials, printing and packaging remains consistent.
Wall art is our focus today. We aim to expand this world with lighting, furniture and decorative objects of our own design. Creating work for homes, hotels, restaurants and architectural projects is part of that journey.
